Five Questions with Vice President of Airport Operations, John M.

John M. Vice President of Airport Operations Headshot
Airport business has grown substantially in revenue and market share since 2007. How have the airport teams achieved such growth?

I think there are many things that can be attributed to our growth that have kept us ahead of the competition. We have worked hard to make our brands stronger than ever through continued investments in locations, technology and marketing.

In addition, we continue to invest in our most important asset – our people – which helps us provide incredible service to our customers. Because of this level of customer service, our brands have taken the top three spots in the J.D. Power study three years in a row. And as we all know, customer service drives growth.

What opportunities lie ahead for the airport business?

I believe we need to remain focused and stay humble about our brands and our service delivery.

With the best people in the industry on our team, there’s lots of growth and opportunity ahead, and I only see it getting better over time.

Why might someone want to start a career in airport rental?

Anyone who loves a challenge and a team environment should consider a role in this business. There is never a dull moment at the airports, and things change at a moment’s notice. Each location must be in sync and work as a team, because the rental volume is so large. There’s nothing more fun and rewarding than achieving success together as a team.

The airport business is also very unique at Enterprise Holdings. We have three distinct brands serving three very different types of customers. In addition, the day of the week and the geographical location of each airport plays a large role in how we conduct our business. All of this makes working at an airport location a very unique experience that will help you develop further your career.

You will celebrate 25 years with Enterprise Holdings this year. How would you sum up your career to date?

If I had to put it into one word, all I would say is: wow. It has been amazing, fun, fantastic, challenging … I could go on and on. When I started in this industry in a part-time summer role during college, I challenged myself to always think ahead, adapt and learn. I have been fortunate to gain knowledge from so many different people during my career who have taught me to accept challenges, undertake calculated risks, lead by example, have fun and never settle for second place.
